Sep. 24th, 2003 11:15 amI HATE MY OLD APARTMENT COMPLEX!!!!
First off, they were suing us. Said we hadn't paid the last month's rent. So Scott goes in to talk to them and....here's a lesson: Never throw anything away!
Damn it! It wasn't us, it was ME. I've paid my half of the rent in cash since last December. And I realize this happened once so I guess I could believe it happened twice. "It" being that I forgot to ask for a receipt. Because I'd never paid like that before and wasn't aware of the importance of it at first.
Now they SAY they make out a receipt whether the person asks for it or not, and I'm sure the lady talking to Scott always does, but that doesn't mean the random college kid they just hired always remembers to. So they have no record of me paying January or March's rent. This is why I say never throw anything away. Because whether I'd asked for a receipt or not, I wouldn't have those! My general rule is two months. I'll throw out bills/receipts/etc. that are more than two months old, assuming I haven't had a problem with it since then. So I find it pretty damn irresponsible of Union Square Apartments to not let me know UNTIL I MOVE OUT IN SEPTEMBER that they don't have record of me paying JANUARY'S RENT! Dumb asses....just so they can rack up more late fees from me. That's dirty.
If I just pay it, we don't have to go to court or anything though.
And I won't let Scott help me pay. He offered, but it's my damn mistake, I'll pay the damn money. :( I feel bad enough he won't get his half of the security deposit back because that was applied to the charges first. (Technically I should pay him back for that as well, but he probably wouldn't accept it and I can only afford so much here.) And I'm REALLY pissed off that it was a kind of crappy place to live, not worth the money we paid in the first place anyway...and here I have to pay them fucking TWICE!
Grr....fine then, off to boring old work....
