Oh look. I've barely written anything. That's because I've been NaNoWriMo-ing. (Is that a verb? Ha! Well it is now!) I am currently at 26,700 words. That's past halfway, and I am a badass. (I have to frequently remind myself of that or else I'll just get discouraged and quit.)

Technically I'm behind. But un-technically, I'm right on schedule :P

So there.

So I have a problem. Our lovely U.S. Department of Education does not believe in second chances and doesn't give you CRAP for financial aid after you've received a first bachelor's degree. Even if you were a dork and should have picked something more marketable than Creative Writing because with the highest unemployment rate in like half a million years, hate to say it but there is NOT a high demand for creative writers.

But they're willing to offer me a nice loan. (Fuckers) Something like $9,500. I do not need $9,500. I'm going to be able to pay most of my bills on my part-time job, all of them if I pick up a few more piano students. I'm starting at community college so my expenses INCLUDING books will probably be more like $1,500.

My dad suggested taking the loan (since I do need SOME money, it is impossible to think I can pay for it out of my pocket right now), and using a large portion of the refund on that after it's paid for my tuition, to simply make a payment on my total loan. In theory, just taking out the amount of loan I'd need...sort of.

Scott suggested taking it all out and since it's all debt, simply using the extra to pay off OTHER debts...like car loans and credit card debt, things with HIGH interest rate, and then I'm left with less bills at the end and just this one school loan which is big, but comes with a relatively SMALL interest rate.

What to do...?
